1. Which creatives are most effective, and how to properly test hypotheses to avoid wasting your budget?
We recommend using a channel or bot link (via @name) directly in the creative text—this highlights the link and increases click-through rate (CTR). To safely find a successful combination, allocate about 20% of your budget to testing and run no more than 2-3 hypotheses at a time. If the CTR drops below the target, change the creative; if a combination is generating high conversions, scale up the successful one.
2. Why is an ad rejected if the text is perfect, but the link leads to a bot or a website with an application form? And why might a long-running ad be banned?
Telegram moderation checks not only the ad text but the entire funnel: channel content, bot functionality, and website landing page. If the bot requires users to leave their phone number before delivering the stated benefit, or the website redirects traffic to other social networks (VK, Zen), the ad will be rejected. Sudden bans of active campaigns occur if you publish new content in the channel that violates the platform’s rules. 3. Why does moderation take so long (up to 48 hours)? How many emojis can I use, and how should I manage my channel during moderation?
Official moderation usually takes up to 48 hours, but sometimes the process is delayed due to questionable creatives or borderline content in the channel. Regarding emojis: 1-2 are allowed; avoid clickbait-like ones (🔥🤑💸). During the channel review, it’s important to avoid posts that violate the platform’s rules (caps, calls to action, profanity), as the moderator is reviewing your recent posts.
4. Is it possible to edit an ad (change the text, avatar, or channel name) after it has been created?
Technically, yes, but after that, the ad will be resubmitted for moderation. Also, if you change the channel description or name of the channel, ads will be declined and need to be submitted again for moderation
5. How does external link advertising work: can you use UTM tags and shorteners?
Telegram’s rules strictly prohibit the use of link shorteners (bit.ly, clck.ru)—URLs must be complete, begin with the https prefix, and point to a website that doesn’t aggressively collect contacts. However, you can safely use classic long UTM parameters to track traffic in analytics systems. We can also send ads directly to a android playstore link
6. What budget isrequiredfor one ad to analyze its effectiveness: €5, 10 or 15?
To obtain statistically significant data, it is recommended to allocate €10 to €15 per ad test or upto 50 clicks or 10 followers. This amount allows for sufficient auction impressions to adequately assess CTR, cost per click, and cost per subscriber/lead, and then make an informed decision about disabling or scaling the creative.
7. Is it even possible to pass moderation with a crypto channel, esotericism, or clinical services?
Telegram Ads strictly prohibits advertising of uncertified medical services, uncertified dietary supplements, and a number of other topics. Cryptocurrency and esoteric topics are allowed, but moderation is extremely strict: the slightest promise of a “guaranteed income” or “problem-freedom” will result in rejection. Such niches must be carefully repackaged: esoteric topics should be presented as “leisure/psychology,” and crypto should be presented exclusively as informational and educational.
8. How does the auction work when targeting multiple channels at once, and why is the “1 channel = 1 ad” breakdown necessary?
The ad will only appear on channels where your CPM bid is auctioned; it won’t appear on channels where competitors’ bids are higher. If you target a large pool of channels in a single ad, only low-cost traffic will be purchased. For precise targeting, bid management, and accurate statistics, we recommend using the “one channel, one ad” structure.
9. What time zone are statistics displayed in and can I change it?
In the official Telegram Ads dashboard, statistics are recorded exclusively in the UTC+0 time zone. It’s not possible to change this in the basic interface, so for local projects, data often has to be manually collated and adjusted for your time zone.
10. Can I see who is targeting my channel in Telegram Ads?
The basic Telegram Ads advertising account doesn’t offer this feature. Third-party SPY services are used for this purpose. They collect ad databases and allow you to analyze competitors’ creatives, as well as see who is targeting specific channels or using specific keywords.
