Meta’s New Rules for Political Ads

Meta has announced that starting in 2024, all political advertisers will also have to disclose when they use AI or other digital techniques to create or alter a political or social issue ad in certain cases. This applies if the ad contains a photorealistic image or video, or realistic sounding audio, that was digitally created or altered to depict a real person as saying or doing something they did not say or do.

Google has also planned for a mid-November policy update to require that election-related ads must include a disclosure if they contain “synthetic content that inauthentically depicts real or realistic-looking people or events.”

Meta has already banned political advertisers from using its new generative AI ad tools.

The elections in 2024 will be very dynamic with significant number of AI tools in the market which would assist politicians to generate custom / high volume content at scale customized to each individual.

In India we can assist in executing political ads across digital channels.
